After having an emotional connect with Eiffel Tower in Paris, time for me to meet Eiffel’s younger sibling Tokyo Tower in Tokyo. Tokyo Tower is a beautiful replica of Eiffel Tower, though a little taller than Eiffel. The grandiose of Tokyo Tower fascinated me and more so because it reminded me of Eiffel. But I found Tokyo Tower equally iconic like Eiffel Tower.
Standing tall at 333mt, Tokyo Tower is the proud symbol of Japan and integral part of Tokyo’s cityscape. This landmark Tower is centrally situated in Tokyo. Built in year 1958, Tokyo Tower remained Japan’s tallest Tower until year 2012. Tower has two observatories, main observatory at 150mt and special observatory at 250mt. Main observatory can be reached either by using elevator or by using 600 steps and both are paid entrances.
While standing in the main observatory and peeping through looking windows, I enjoyed stunning panorama of Tokyo. There is souvenir shop and cafe on main observatory, If interested in doing little shopping or a quick sip of coffee. Special observatory offers bird’s eye view of Tokyo. I had heard in Tokyo that in clear sky, one can have a glimpse of Mt Fuji from special observation deck. But I was not able see that. May be due to bright sun, I could not gaze properly. Still I had wonderful views. On ground, right below Tokyo Tower, there are lot of shops and restaurants to indulge in Tokyo special meals and go on a shopping spree. Not much into shopping, I ventured out to do some sight seeing around Tokyo Tower.
While talking about Tokyo Tower, I want to tell you this interesting tale. When I found out that Eiffel Tower of Paris is the most copied and reproduced monument in the world. I got inquisitive, further. How can this be possible? What about the copyright violation? But I was pleasantly surprised to learn that there has never been any restriction on recreating design model of Eiffel Tower. Violation comes into effect only when Eiffel title is used. Therefore, numerous replicas of Eiffel Tower have emerged, world over, right from symbolic to prominent ones. I was told that Tokyo Tower in Tokyo and huge replica in Las Vegas are good examples when talking about best replicas of Eiffel. And I feel happy telling you that I have seen both, one in Tokyo and other in Las Vegas. Of course I explored master piece the Eiffel Tower of Paris, first. Subsequently visited Tokyo Tower and Las Vegas Tower.
